The Arlington Jaycees have officially adopted Rock Run Park in the Courthouse neighborhood! This will be our first day of volunteering to clean up, maintain, and improve the park. We’d love for you to come and help us make this new collaboration between the Jaycees and Arlington County Parks & Recreation a success! There will be a wide variety of tasks for volunteers to do and the parks department will supply us with the needed tools. Some of the tasks will be: Cleaning picnic tables Raking leaves and debris off basketball and tennis courts Painting handrails Removing graffiti Trimming vegetation

Volunteers are needed at the Community Garage Sale, organized by the Arlington Civitans! This event is both a volunteer opportunity and an important fundraiser for the Jaycees – the Civitans pay our organization for every volunteer hour! On Friday night, volunteers help with setup of the snack bar, posting signage, and other duties as needed. This event is held on the first weekend of each month between April and November. (volunteers are also needed for cleanup on Saturday afternoon – see separate Meetup event) As a bonus, if you volunteer for at least 5 hours at the Civitans garage sales,

Join the Jaycees in volunteering at the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC)! We sort donated canned goods or bag portions of dry goods or produce for AFAC’s weekly food distributions to low-income families in Arlington. AFAC is a long-time community partner of the Arlington Jaycees! At 2:30, or when we are done at AFAC, we will head to Guapos in nearby Shirlington for food and drinks. Come join the Arlington Jaycees outside among the fall leaves as we take a walk around the National Arboretum! Feel free to stop by, mingle, get some exercise & fresh air and learn more about us on a Saturday morning. The National Arboretum is located in Northeast DC near the Ivy City neighborhood. It is not easily accessible by metro or bus but has plenty of free parking around the arboretum.
